About Central Monetary and Payments Office (CMPO)

The Central Monetary and Payments Office (CMPO) is a financial regulatory authority and payment system operator established under Law No. 9 of 2021 in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. It is responsible for overseeing monetary policy, supervising financial institutions, and regulating payment systems within its jurisdiction.

Unlike fintech apps or payment platforms like SamaPay, CMPO functions more like a central financial authority, playing a role similar to a central bank or payments regulator. It ensures financial stability, supervises banks and exchange institutions, and manages electronic payment infrastructure.
